Discover the wonderful ceramic pieces handcrafted by artist Orli Livne!

We are proud to partner with hundreds of small business owners who are harnessing the pioneering spirit of their Biblical ancestors to produce products which are beneficial for the body, mind and soul!

Orli Livne is just one of the hundreds of pioneers and small business owners in Israel we are proud to work with. She has always felt a deep connection to the Holy Land and growing up, Orli would regularly travel and explore it. Today from her studio in the beautiful hilltop community of Mitzpe Dani, she can see the golden sands of the Judean desert all the way to the Dead Sea. This view, along with her years of experience at the pottery wheel provides her with all the tools she needs to produce her wonderful collection of ceramic pieces!

Orli and her husband Eliyahu have been married for twenty-three years and are the proud parents of four beautiful children. When the two were looking for a home and a place to raise their family, they chose the small settlement of Mitzpeh Dani, Dani's Lookout, on the edge of the Judean Desert. They fell in love with the expansive vistas - on a clear day, you can see to the Dead Sea and across the desert to Jordan.

Orli grew up with a deep connection to the land of Israel. As a youngster, she would backpack through Israel, discovering the length and breadth of the Holy Land. Living in Samaria, she is thrilled that her children have the opportunity to grow up close to the land with a similar spirit of adventure. On days off and holidays, the family loves to hike to Wadi Kelt, near their home, which has a stream running through it, a mini desert oasis where you can be surrounded by lush vegetation amid the hot landscape.

Life in Mitzpeh Dani is simple, which suits Orli. She loves being able to create her art and raise her family on the same land her ancestors did during Biblical times.

The Story of Orli Livne Ceramics

Orli studied her art at Tel Hai, a college that teaches traditional pottery. During her course of study, she spent endless hours at the potter's wheel, perfecting the art of creating handmade pots and vessels using traditional methods. Watching Orli at the wheel is an amazing experience as she intuitively shapes each of her beautiful creations, from bowls to plates, cups, and more.

Orli's studio is oriented, so she can see the gorgeous view of the Judean Desert while she works. She uses the beauty of the Holy Land as inspiration for the unique, one-of-a-kind ceramic artworks. As she works, she intends that the item she is making will ultimately bring the beauty of Israel and happiness into people's homes.
When Orli first opened her studio, she wasn't sure how she would be able to launch and succeed in business. Her location is remote and comes with some unique challenges. Purchasing supplies requires a day trip to the center of Israel, and often acquiring the products she needs to execute her vision is not easily accomplished.

Finding technicians willing to travel to her can also become a mission if a potter's wheel or kiln malfunctions. She nonetheless persisted and trusted that she would find her way.

In the early days, she worked as a teacher leading workshops for kids attending summer camp. While she loved the excitement of the kids and sharing her knowledge, she still dreamed of her own business where she could express her creativity and make beautiful things.

Everything changed for Orli when she was inspired to make a beautiful soap dish in the shape of a fig leaf, a celebration of one of the seven species of the land of Israel. A friend saw the sweet dish and introduced Orli to Shlomo Keshet from Adva soaps, who lives in a nearby settlement. In an "only in Israel" way, Shlomo introduced Orli to Lev Haolam!

The soap dish was precisely the artisanal, hand-crafted item that Lev Haolam subscribers love, and Orli needed the boost for her business. When Lev Haolam placed a large order for her beautiful soap dish, Orli (and her whole family) quickly got to work to fulfill the order.

It was the start of a beautiful relationship that has grown over the years. Not only does Orli feel grateful for her business growing, but she is thrilled that it includes employing others from her settlement.

From beautiful dinner sets of plates, bowls and cups, to intricate judaica pieces such as Kiddush cups and saucers, all of Orli's ceramic products contain one essential ingredient - her love!

If you closely inspect one of Orli's products, you can truly appreciate the delicate touch and finesse of her art. Orli is proud to be living and working in the very same region where her Biblical ancestors once lived and tread. Even though Mitzpe Dani is somewhat isolated from Israel's major population centers, her connection with Lev Haolam allows her to share the fruits of her labour with thousands of people around the world who wish to feel the love of the Holy Land in their very own homes. And we are so proud to be that bridge between Israel's most talented pioneers and those who love and support the Holy Land!
