Shimon and Sarah Berdah, founders of Les Parfums Itamar, began their journey more than 30 years ago in the small community of Itamar (a rural community in the hills of Samaria), in the heart of the Land of Israel.
Shimon arrived in Israel from France in 1978, carrying two dreams: to reconnect with the ancient scents described in the Torah and to create fragrances and cosmetics rooted in natural materials rather than chemicals. At a time when most of the industry relied heavily on synthetic ingredients, he chose a different path — returning to the roots of traditional craftsmanship.
Living in Itamar long before it was established, the Berdah family faced years of hardship, financial uncertainty, and doubt from others who believed that a natural cosmetics business could not survive in an agricultural settlement. Through patience, experimentation, and faith, Shimon succeeded in creating stable, effective formulas without relying on unnecessary additives.
