About the Producer
Koren Publishers Jerusalem was founded in 1961 by master typographer Eliyahu Koren, who produced the Koren Tanakh—the first Jewish Bible edited, designed, printed, and bound by Jews in nearly five hundred years. Mr. Koren paid meticulous attention to every letter and every page, developing a new Hebrew font to ensure clarity, accuracy, and visual harmony.

The Koren Tanakh quickly gained international recognition for its textual precision, innovative design, and high production standards. Under Mr. Koren’s leadership, Koren Publishers Jerusalem went on to produce additional editions of classic Jewish texts, including The Koren Siddur, published in 1981, which became widely regarded for its thoughtful layout and readability.

Since its first publication, copies of the Koren Tanakh have traditionally been given to soldiers upon induction into the Israel Defense Forces, a practice that has continued for decades.
Today, Koren Publishers Jerusalem continues this legacy with a strong commitment to textual integrity, scholarly depth, and refined design. From research and editing to typography and final production, the publisher maintains consistently high standards, making classical Hebrew texts accessible and meaningful to a broad and growing audience.

Koren Fonts
Koren books are printed using two proprietary typefaces created by Eliyahu Koren: the Koren Tanakh Font and the Koren Siddur Font. Developed through extensive study of Hebrew manuscripts and early printings, and with careful attention to readability, these fonts are known for their balance of tradition and clarity. Both fonts are © Koren Publishers Jerusalem Ltd.
