About the Producer
Yossef Shohat lives with his wife and three children on Moshav Mitzar, in the southern Golan Heights. It was here that he established his farm and apiary in 2015.
Before starting his own operation, Yossef spent many years apprenticing with an experienced beekeeper, learning the craft in the unique natural setting of the Golan Heights. When his mentor decided to sell his hives, Yossef’s long-held dream became reality, and Yossef Honey Farms was born.
Yossef approaches beekeeping with deep respect. He carefully protects the hives, ensures the bees have access to nourishment, and maintains conditions that allow them to thrive. In return, the bees produce pure, high-quality honey.
The Golan Heights provide an ideal environment for beekeeping, with abundant wildflowers and flowering trees that supply rich pollen throughout the seasons. Yossef also collaborates with nearby farms, moving his hives to help pollinate fruit trees. This supports local agriculture while contributing to the honey’s naturally fragrant and sweet character.
