About the Product
Growing Medjool dates is a hands-on, time-intensive process, and the team at Kibbutz Neot Smadar approaches it with deep care and dedication. Their organic date groves produce beautifully plump, soft, and juicy Medjool dates with a naturally rich sweetness.

Medjool dates are loved for their tender texture and full, caramel-like flavor. In Israel, they are commonly enjoyed as a nourishing daytime snack or served as a simple dessert after a meal. They can also be filled with almonds and rolled in coconut flakes for an easy and satisfying treat.

Naturally cholesterol-free, these dates are a source of fiber and contain a variety of vitamins and minerals. Their freshness and softness are best preserved when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, though they may gradually lose moisture over time.

About the Producer
Kibbutz Neot Smadar was founded in 1989 by a group of friends drawn to organic farming and communal living. Located in the southern Negev Desert, about 60 kilometers north of Eilat, the kibbutz began as a bold effort to cultivate life in a challenging desert environment.

Over the years, the community has developed a deep understanding of the region’s delicate ecosystem, marked by extreme temperatures and minimal rainfall. Despite the rocky soil, they now farm approximately 400 acres, growing dates, olives, almonds, and a variety of fruit trees.

Beyond its orchards, Neot Smadar is a diverse and active organic farm. The community raises goats for yogurt and cheese, tends a vineyard for wine production, and supports a vibrant group of artists working across many creative disciplines, producing functional and decorative art.
This small cooperative farm has earned international recognition for the quality of its fruits, olive oils, nectars, jams, and dried fruits — all grown and produced with careful attention to the land and the people who work it.

One of the artists at Neot Smadar is Mordechai Corcos, a jeweler who draws inspiration from the surrounding Negev Desert. His work includes silver utensils, Judaica, and restoration pieces, reflecting both craftsmanship and a strong sense of place.
